What Is It Like to Be a Woman in Executive Protection in a Male-Dominated Industry?
I get this question a lot.
Here’s my answer.
Plain and simple, I’m a woman who works in Executive Protection.
That’s it!
I’ve never seen it any other way.
It’s a job I love, and when you love your work, you fight for it. You learn, adapt, and hold yourself to a high standard.
You stay ready because challenges are part of the deal. I’ve taught self-defense and firearms for nearly twenty years in another male-dominated world. I didn’t think twice about it there either.
It’s work. You show up, do it well, and move on to the next thing.
Respect doesn’t come from a résumé or a reputation. It comes from not making excuses, owning your mistakes, showing up prepared, staying humble, and protecting your integrity when no one’s watching. I’ve had great mentors, many of them men, who pushed me, supported me, and never treated me like I didn’t belong.
I’ve also had men who tried to sabotage me, hated seeing me succeed, and did their best to damage my reputation.
Did it suck?
Absolutely!
Did it hurt?
Of course it did.
But you get up, lick your wounds, stand tall, and remember who the hell you are! Don’t lose yourself trying to fit in. It’s a male-dominated industry, yes, but your perspective and presence are strengths, not weaknesses. Learn from others, but don’t minimize what you bring to the table. You learn who to trust, who to learn from, and who to step back from. You build allies, not enemies.
Being a woman in this field doesn’t define me. Doing my job well does!
Because at the end of the day, it’s not about being a woman in protection. It’s about being a professional who earns respect through integrity and consistency!
Keep learning. Keep training. Stay safe.
